Well Air has an anime-adaption... and I liked it.

The first half is basically your Kanon-fare. Afterwards you have the summer-arc which more or less introduces the real storyline starting way back in the past and after that comes the last arc which basically should be the reason, why people probably consider Air as really sad.

However, I loved it, at least everything about Misuzu and her story including the ending.
The ending is however not for everyone. Can't say more about it.

Yea, I felt pretty sad at the ending, though i probably shouldt say anymore so i dont spoil anyone who hasn't seen it.

Well, of course Kana is sadder than YMK.  Nothing is really sadder than Kana.   YMK just had some sad and dramatic scenes IMO.

The saddest thing for me would have to be Planetarian. After that, probably Kana.

I am interested in that visual novel.  I've heard Air is really sad as well.  Kanon was a huge disappointment for me though...

Planetarian was pretty good and its linear (I think its caled  Kinetic Novel?) plus its short.

As for Kanon, well I though it was above average but it wasnt really as good as what I was expecting from Key.
